Malaysia Debt Ventures promotes acting CEO Rizal Fauzi to permanent role

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 6): Malaysia Debt Ventures Bhd (MDV) said it has formally appointed Rizal Fauzi as its new chief executive officer (CEO) effective Aug 1, 2024.

MDV, a subsidiary of the Minister of Finance (Incorporated), provides flexible financing facilities to develop the information and communications technology sector. The company operates under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Mosti).

Rizal has served as acting CEO since February 2024, following the end of Nizam Mohamed’s term, who had led the company since 2018.

“His extensive experience and in-depth understanding of MDV’s operations and strategic goals make him the ideal leader to steer the company forward,” said MDV chairman Wong Chen in a statement.

Before becoming acting CEO, Rizal was MDV’s chief risk, integrity and governance officer from 2018 until early 2024, following his role as senior vice president of the business division, where he oversaw MDV’s business and project monitoring.

Rizal had significantly improved MDV’s risk and governance frameworks, ensuring high standards of integrity and resilience, MDV said.

Prior to joining MDV, Rizal spent five years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, from 1997 until 2001. He holds a degree in accounting and finance from De Montfort University, UK, and is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, as well as a member of both the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

“Under his stewardship, we are confident that MDV will remain on track in achieving sustainable growth, while continuing to fulfill its mandate of supporting innovative technology companies and contributing meaningfully to the advancement of Malaysia’s technology sector,” Wong noted.

Meanwhile, Wong also thanked Nizam for his leadership and contributions during his six-year tenure, noting that his efforts and vision have laid a strong foundation for MDV as the nation’s technology financier.
