Wong Chen is Malaysia Debt Ventures’ new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR (May 24): Malaysia Debt Ventures Bhd (MDV), a subsidiary of the Minister of Finance Inc and an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, has appointed Wong Chen, who is Member of Parliament for Subang, as its non-executive chairman.

Wong fills a role that had been vacant since Khairul Azwan Harun’s term ended on Dec 31, 2022. Khairul Azwan was appointed as the chairman of MDV in October 2020.

In a statement on Wednesday (May 23), MDV said Wong brings with him more than 22 years of experience as a former corporate lawyer who specialised in information technology law and mergers and acquisitions. He was educated at the United World College of Southeast Asia, Singapore and obtained his law degree from the University of Warwick, the UK.

“Given YB Wong Chen’s broad experience and expertise, MDV is confident that under his leadership, we will continue advancing Malaysia’s technology companies and start-ups for the benefit of the nation,” said MDV.
