RM110,000 for five organisations

FIVE organisations have received a year-end gift of RM110,000 from Pikom, the National ICT Association of Malaysia. The funds were proceeds raised from the Pikom Annual Charity Golf 2011 organised by the association.

Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang, Selangor, Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Malaysia and OrphanCARE were presented RM15,000 each while the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) received RM30,000. A hostel for poor students, Asrama Harapan Baru Pitas in Kota Marudu, Sabah, received RM35,000.

The mock cheques were handed over to the five organisations by Pikom chairman Woon Tai Hai recently in the presence of Deputy Science, Technology & Innovation Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusoff.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang and Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Malaysia were president N Morgun and group executive director Selvam Selvaraj respectively. Representing OrphanCARE was its deputy president, Noraini Hashim, while NKF was represented by its CEO Chua Hong Wee.

“This is the fourth charity golf event that Pikom has organised since 2008. As in previous years, this year’s game was another resounding success and we are pleased that we are able to lend a hand to five organisations through the collective support of our sponsors and members who participated in the event.

“Doing our part for the community has always been something that is close to Pikom’s heart.

“We also just recently raised RM25,000 for the National Cancer Society through the Pikom Charity Run 2011,” Pikom president Shaifubahrim Saleh, said adding that this year alone, being Pikom’s 25th anniversary, the association has contributed close to RM164,000 to needy organisations.

A total of 116 golfers took part in the charity golf tournament that was held at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club recently.

The top prize went to Affin Bank’s Azlan Rashid who won an Acer Aspire and one Srixon fairway wood.

ST Tan of Cynnx Sdn Bhd can in second and took home a Srixon CG7 iron set and one Srixon fairway wood while the third prize, also a Srixon CG7 iron set and one Srixon fairway wood, went to Lee Weng Fak of Time dot Com Bhd.

The “Longest Drive” title was won by Nizam Mohammad Nazri of MDV and Zainal Azlan Zainuddin from CIMB.

Ramaswami Venkastesan of HP and CS Chin from MyRosso took the “Nearest To Pin” title while the “Nearest To Line” title went to HSBC’s Chu Hong Keong and Encoral Digital Solutions Sdn Bhd’s Khairuddin Masuri.

The sponsors of the tournament are Srixon Sports Asia Sdn Bhd, Acer Sales & Services Sdn Bhd, Silverlake System Sdn Bhd, Canon Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd, Epson Malaysia, Green Belt Marketing, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and BriteSoft Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd.
