Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad (MDV) today organised its first ‘ICTeh Tarik Talk’ for the year 2014 for local ICT companies and technopreneurs at Kuala Lumpur. The event was officiated by Datuk Md. Zubir Ansori Yahaya, Managing Director and CEO of MDV, which attracted more than 70 participants from the local industry.
The ICTeh Tarik Talk was held with the aim to promote and further enhance the awareness of the financing schemes that MDV could offer within its mandate to facilitate the entrepreneurs in the ICT and other technology sectors to grow sustainably and achieve success in the long term. This aligns with MDV’s mission, which is to provide innovative and flexible financing solutions and specialised funding programmes while at the same time offering industry expertise and advisory services. The technology sectors that MDV supports include ICT, Biotechnology, Green Technology and other emerging technologies. A total of RM750 million fund is allocated to the ICT sector.
Datuk Md. Zubir Ansori Yahaya, Managing Director and CEO of MDV in his welcoming note expressed his hope and vision on the growth and success of the ICT companies through MDV’s financing programmes.
“In understanding the needs and aspirations of our technopreneurs, MDV realises the importance of providing the right type of funds for the companies to grow and becoming successful. In this regards, MDV would like to bridge the gaps that the ICT companies are facing, especially in terms of financial capabilities,” he emphasised to the participants.
“The growth and sustainability of the ICT companies are certainly MDV’s main concern. It is crucial for these companies to develop, with strong financial support from the partner that they can trust, and this is where MDV comes in,” he added further.
The Talk continued with sessions by speakers from MDV, who introduced and shared the available financing schemes, as well as the application procedures including iFactoring Financing, Contract Financing and Intellectual Property Financing Schemes (IPFS). IPFS is the latest financing programme that MDV offers and was officially launched in December 2013. Guest speaker for the event, Mr Toh Swee Hoe from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) spoke about ‘Smarter Living with Digital Lifestyle Malaysia’.
To date, MDV has approved over RM6 billion worth of projects to more than 450 technology companies from various sectors. More than 70% of the approvals were awarded to SMEs.
